Review of Spanking-Movie.jp

Introduction

Yes, that's right folks -- I'm back, this time for good (hopefully). There are a few reasons why I stayed away for as long as I did, mostly due to concerns about certain spanking websites inexplicably closing down. Things have pretty much straightened themselves out by now, and I can now post reviews and links without worrying about them vanishing tomorrow.

Fake Spankings

Do you ever get sick of watching fake spanking movies? You know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about movies with light slaps, where the spankee reacts before being hit, or where a swollen, red bare bottom is revealed before the first spank ever comes. Cutie Spankee was guilty of this in earlier galleries; Hand Spanking's first ten or so videos are incredibly fake, and Sanwa Erotica's spankings are weak enough to be absurd.

The "fake spanking" syndrome doesn't merely affect Asian spanking videos. Consider this post quoted from an unnamed source on my favorite video website, Girls Spanking Videos:

I know that everyone has their preferences when it comes to spanking videos. I love an authentic looking spanking. Of course I also love to see pretty girls get them, but I don't mind trading looks a little for a good spanking video. Anyway, here's my gripe. I know people have issues with Raven Hill because of their business ethics, but I have always been a huge fan of their 'Resolved By Corporal Punishment' series. Maybe a few in this series were real, but this was definitely a fake.

Spanking-Movie.jp or Spanker-Nami.jp?

As this excellent, yet outdated Spanking Art Wiki article explains, Spanking-Movie.jp is the brainchild of Nami, a Japanese woman who apparently does this work completely alone. The videos are on the professional side of amateur spanking movies. Only a single camera angle is used, with occasional zooming after spankings are finished (presumably controlled by Nami herself). Nami administers all spankings, usually with surprising severity. Only spankings are filmed. There isn't any fake acting here, and most models do not even reveal their faces (the most obvious except being Sakuna). It's all about the spanking here, and there's plenty of it. In fact, most spankings offered here last at least 30 minutes, an eternity considering just how hard these spankings are. The videos are broken up into segments, usually by position and / or implement. Nami will spank OTK for 8 minutes in one scene, give a caning for 12 in another, give a hard hairbrush spanking for 7 in a third and so on.

Nami apparently began with a F/M website in 2000. If we are to believe the afforementioned article, Nami spanked her husband in each of those videos. I didn't know about this website at that time, but I do know about a recent, now-defunct incarnation called Spanker-Nami.jp. That F/M website featured about twelve galleries of Nami giving severe spankings to an unnamed male. I thought that there was more than one man in those galleries, but, because I did not save the videos and the website is now gone, there is no way to check back and see.

There's not much information online about when Nami started spanking women. Rumor has it that Spanking-Movie.jp disappeared sometime in 2004. In fact, the only English language review of Nami's work (located here) claims that the website is defunct. Whatever the case is, Nami's F/F website is currently up and running, with a large collection of available galleries, both current and past. Each gallery has sample pictures and a short sample video, and I can say from personal experience that the samples offer a very good indication of what the gallery is actually like.

Do you ever wonder how much these models get paid? I did a bit of research (and some Google translating) and came up with an answer, based on this page. Apparently Nami pays 30,000 Yen ($300) for spankers willing to show their faces, or 20,000 ($200) for those unwilling. Nami also goes in great detail about how long the spanking marks last, probably to reassure reluctant girls who worry about long-term bruising from her aggressive spankings.

Finally, Spanking-Movie.jp has a unique payment system. You don't pay $20 for monthly access to everything; rather, you pay $8 for a month's access (not 10 days, as the above reviewer claims) to a single gallery of your choosing. Personally, I like this system better than the "$20 a month for everything" system. I often find myself wanting to subscribe to a spanking website for a single video set or photo gallery. It also guarantees a relatively steady stream of revenue, of course.

The Good

- These are real spankings. There's no photographic trickery going on here, folks. The bruising you see is real, the canes and paddles are real, and the cries are real. If you really like spanking, and not all the costumes and acting and what-not, you are going to love this website.

- The girls are legitimate amateurs. You won't see crossovers from, say, Night24 on this website. Some come dressed in playful costumes; others come dressed in normal clothes.

- There is very little nudity, other than bared bottoms. This isn't a pornography site posing as a spanking site.

- I love the pay system, but you may feel differently. It's cheap, you get quite a bit for your $8, and you know what you're getting before you pay.

- The videos are among the longest pure spanking videos I've ever seen. It amazes me that these girls can last a half hour under Nami's cane.

The Bad

- There are very few shots of the girls' faces. Personally, I feel like face shots create a certain intimacy, particularly in otherwise brutal spanking videos. One reason I always liked Cutie Spankee's former model Mai was because she was willing to turn and face the camera during her spankings. Of course, this is very subjective.

- Some of the spankings are hard to stomach. Gallery 11 is an excellent example of this. The caning this woman takes is extremely hard, particularly for such an amateur production. I know that Nami can spank hard, but isn't that borderline sadistic?

- There is absolutely no dialogue in any of these movies. If you love pure spanking, you won't mind this. However, I do wish that they would say at least something once in a while. It gives the entire website this real surreal sense, as if it were all part of some big mystery.

- I really wish Nami would buy another camera. It's nice to see a real spanking take place from a single camera angle, but it would be nice to have a shift in angles at least once in a while. Nami's zooming work is also in desperate need of help, although it has improved with recent galleries.

What Happened?

Apparently a crackdown of some sort is taking place in the Chinese internet. I don't know any details, and nobody's really saying much, but something is definitely going on. Spanking websites have gone down by the dozen, and I've been kicked out of several spanking QQ chatrooms without warning in the past few weeks.

It all seems to have started back when the founder of 鹤啸山谷地 passed away. That was about a month and a half ago. That forum was put on temporary hiatus (there was a special forum set up for messages to him), but it looked like things would be back to normal soon. About a week afterwards, the forum was completely gone. There was a mirror running at http://yy8899.cn for a few days, but that was shut down soon thereafter.

Meanwhile, it's been almost impossible to find Chinese websites that host images and video files. The photo section of 痛快天空, for example, has been taken offline. It goes offline once a year for various reasons (my guess is to pass certain government inspections), but it's been offline for several weeks now, much longer than ever before. There's no word on when it will return. Even the "sexy" photo section of 漂漂美术馆 has been taken down, which I find a pity. It's not easy to find Asian lingerie photos on the internet, especially for those of us who don't care much for hardcore pornography.

That's not the only reason I haven't updated, actually. I meant to update before all this happened, but got caught up in other things in the meantime. Things should come back to normal soon.

In the meantime, this website ought to provide you plenty of Asian spanking fun for the time being.

I haven't been able to visit many spanking websites for the past few days. My wife and I are currently at her parents' house, where there is no internet connection at all. Are you ever in the mood to look at pictures of Asian girls? Are you ever tired of looking at the same old Jupus photo scans? I know I usually am. Here are a few websites you might find useful:

漂漂美术馆 is usually the first website I visit when I get the urge. Though it looks like another average paysite, the pictures are high quality and there are pleanty of free archives. Though most pictures are just of beautiful girls in cute outfits, there is a section of underwear and bikini pics. Look in the 性感美女 section. Almost 100% of the photos come from Japanese modeling agencies, though there are occasionally shots of girls from Taiwan and China.

Jappydolls is another website with shots from Japanese modeling companies. There is no nudity here, though most of the photosets are quite sexy. The downloading method is pretty self-explanatory, and the website is updated relatively often.

The Panty Drawer and Your Butt Space are not Asian blogs, but I still enjoy visiting them occassionally. Neither blog is perfect -- The Panty Drawer has more bikini pics than anything else, and Your Butt Space has too many private parts hanging out for my tastes -- but there's still a lot to see here.

The SP Vlog , assuming it is still up, is the most controversial website I'll link to. Here you can view streaming copies of almost every Cutie Spankee and Girls Boarding School video. This is the sort of rare treasure (or blatant act of copyright violation, depending on whose side you're on) hidden to those outside the Chinese spanking scene. It is hosted by Blogspot, though, so I assume it won't last very long.

If you're trying to access spanking (or politcally sensitive) websites in China and can't get through the firewall, try this proxy. I think you can get on most spanking websites in China, though Cutie Spankee rarely works. You can't use this proxy to access any websites that require you to upload, and I wouldn't trust it with my passwords, but at least you can see what John Moore's latest update is.

Assorted Chinese Spanking Forums

Here are a number of Chinese spanking forums that won't receive in-depth reviews.

暗夜·玫瑰 The Gloomy Rose isn't linked to quite as often as 痛快天空, but it is also a very popular Chinese language spanking destination. My favorite section is the pictures and videos section, though you need 10 forum posts to access it. Most photos and videos are taken from blogs or commercial websites, though, and all downloads are hosted over at Rayfile. This seems to be Maizugirl's favorite forum, but I don't see anything here that you can't find elsewhere.

单情家园 is a Chinese forum I haven't had much time to play around with. From what I've seen, there aren't any photos or videos that are exclusive to this forum, and I doubt any of the stories here are original. It seems to me that this was a popular forum a year ago (or even more), but the whole place is rather dead now. I'd love to know more about the history of this website.

鹤啸山谷地 is one of the most popular spanking forums on the internet. The emphasis here is on photos and videos, not stories, and you can find almost anything here. Most pictures and videos are inaccessable until you have 30 posts, however. You have to run around on the bondage and butt injection forums until you have enough replies to open up the spanking stuff.

It's worth the trouble, though. One forum contains links to streaming spanking videos, usually on Tudou (the Chinese version of YouTube), and another contains links to Rayfile- or SendSpace-hosted downloads. Most pirated spanking videos are released here before they appear on other forums. I've been able to find quite a few rare Asian spanking videos here, especially those from 三和, though people also tend to relink to the same videos over and over again. This would be a great place to build up a collection of rare spanking videos. If you combined the stuff here with the releases of, say, Girls Spanking Videos , you'd essentially have a copy of every single commercial spanking video in the world, as well as most amateur videos.

The photo sections are nice, especially the 疯狂自拍 (crazy self-portrait) section, although many of those have clearly been PhotoShopped. If looking at wide-eyed 18 year old Chinese girls sitting and smiling for webcam shots is your thing, this is the place for you. There are a few edgy photos here, though I haven't seen anything much worse than a bare bottom or a few bra and panty shots.

My biggest beef with this website is the money system. Downloading a picture costs 2 units of forum money, and writing a reply earns 2 units of the same money. Unfortunately, most topics featuring downloadable pictures contain more than one picture link, which means you have to reply to several uninteresting topics before you can download the pictures you want. This means that most topics contain page after page of "nice shot" or "looks good," no matter how good the photo actually is. Furthermore, some jerks repost the same pictures over and over again, which means you end up wasting your forum money on nothing. What was clearly intended to create a better community atmosphere completely backfired.

Though it's one of the best Chinese forums, I've been very frustrated by all the liars and scammers here. You can take a look for yourself (assuming you speak Chinese) if you like. Just watch out and don't click on anything that looks suspicious.

More Wanted

As I promised, I'm going to write about spanking and the kawaii culture in Japan. First of all, thank you to all those who commented on earlier posts. I really like Dave's work over at the Cherry Red Report, and I'm also a big fan of Caroline Grey's blog. By the way, thanks for the Wikipedia link Caroline. The "gothic lolita" culture is one of the strangest things I've ever come across. My wife tells me she wouldn't dare wear anything like that. Oh, and for 梅子, 我以后会写关于你的blog, 可是写之前我想跟你联络, 不知道你有没有受到我的电子邮件, 要是受到了的话赶快回信吧!

Why Only F/F?

Everybody who has paid attention to the spanking scene has the same question: why are all the spankings F/F? What about those M/F spankings, the ones that dominate the scene around the world? Why are there only girls?

First of all, I want to dispell any theories that there's something cultural preventing men from being involved in spanking. This blog is a good example. It's an M/F Japanese spanking blog that is extremely well done. I'll review it in a later post. If you need further proof, there is a Japanese M/M page here that is a lot different than Cutie Spankee. I've also seen dozens of M/F spanking scenes in various Japanese bondage videos -- unfortunately, I don't have any links for you at the moment. Needless to say, there is nothing culturally wrong about men spanking women in Asia.

So why are all the commercial Asian spanking websites F/F? I've got a few theories.

Good Taste

As I mentioned above, most M/F "spanking" media in Asia is concentrated around the bondage scene. In fact, the only non-bondage related M/F spanking videos I've seen are amateur productions, generally with only one camera angle and awful sound. If you're not into watching girls being tied up and whipped, you simply won't be able to find any professional quality Asian M/F spanking videos.

Most of those videos border on hardcore pornography. I've seen videos where girls were spanked a few times and then ordered to suck an erect penis. I even saw one video where a girl was spanked while having sex on top of a man. It's frustrating to see videos with such potential winding up no better than your average cheap porn flick.

Thus, it's possible that these companies are making F/F videos to separate themselves from the spanking-bondage videos out there. To put it bluntly, they might stick with F/F videos simply out of good taste. It's a way of saying, "Look, we've got no sex videos disguised as spanking videos here. This is pure spanking for spanking fans, and nothing else."

Aesthetics

It's possible that women spankers simply look more attractive than men. That's especially possible when you're doing a cosplay scene. It's just more fun to have girls dressed up in outlandish costumes. After all, there are already too many spanking photos and videos out there featuring men in suits.

I don't know how much I believe that, though. Neither Cutie Spankee nor Hand Spanking employ particularly beautiful spankers. As a matter of fact, I doubt the spanker really makes much difference in the long run. We're not watching their ass turn red, after all.

"Cute" Culture

It's possible that F/F spanking has something to do with the kawaii "cute" culture, which is prevalent all over Asia, especially in Japan. I've often thought of this as a sort of deformed women's lib movement, one that's more about allowing females to express themselves in an extremely feminine way than about burning bras. By dressing up in outlandishly cute costumes, these girls are expressing their pride for femininity. It's only natural, then, that they would take demonstrate their feminine power by spanking each other.

I'm still toying around with this theory. It's really hard for a guy like me to say, mainly because I've never know what it's like to dress up covered in Hello Kitty logos. Is it possible that "cute" culture is empowering? If so, why would all these spankings be F/F and not F/M?

I first thought of this when I read Naomi, a classic Japanese novel by Junichiro Tanizaki that all spanking fans should read. The main character is a classic, textbook submissive girl at the beginning, and I couldn't help but imagining her being spanked during the first few chapters. By the end, of course, she's turned into a dominant mistress. Don't trust my poor explanation, or the bad summary on Wikipedia. Go find a copy and read it for yourself.

One interesting thing I've noticed in Chinese literature is the amount of strong, ruthless female characters. The infamous Dream of the Red Chamber, easily the most important work in Chinese history, has its Wang Xifeng, famous for her harsh, exacting discipline. Ba Jin's classic novel 家 includes a few young female characters who are disciplined harshly by woman figures: a daughter by her mother, and a servent by the head of the household. I haven't seen many examples of men disciplining women in Chinese literature. It's always the women that do the disciplining. Maybe there's nothing "cute" about it after all.
